Just incredible.
We made our way to the airport to rent a car.
Stick Shift! I had learned how to drive stick shift 2 weeks prior to our trip, having practiced 3 times...now I'm driving in Paris with a stick shift car... YIKES! Haha it was only slightly scary at first....but then it turned out okay :)
First stop: Normandy Beaches
It was kinda rainy all day, but with it being rainy/cloudy it made the feeling here at the beaches more surreal. More somber. It was really neat. And beautiful.
Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial
Omaha Beach
Pointe Du Hoc
Don't worry -Ellis is driving at this point
While everyone else sleeps...
Cute little villages on our drive ♥
Our first view of Mont St. Michel!!!
I felt like I was at Disneyland and in Harry Potter all at the same time. This castle blew me away and I fell in love instantly. When you walk inside the gates on the island, you're instantly immersed into this little town feel with small alley ways walking up to the abbey on top with little shops on both sides of the alley.
We climbed up to the wall and walked into the gardens of the abbey - SO BEAUTIFUL. And some great views!
We got back to Paris airport close to midnight
Taking a picture with our car rental....even though you can't even see our car. haha!
where we said goodbye to Doro - she was going to be catching her flight back to Germany in the morning. It was fun having her with us!
Trying to get back to our Air Bnb was an adventure! The last regular hour trains and buses had left right before midnight. So we walked around, talked to people, tried to get any information we could about how to get back to Paris. Luckily we discovered that there was a night bus that came every so often during the late hours of the night. So we waited for that and hopped on, eventually making our way back home.
